How to Use Twitter Like a Marketing Pro
Twitter can be a great tool to build brand awareness and reach out to your target audience. But sometimes you may find yourself frustrated with lackluster results. Currently, four out of five marketers are using Twitter, which means you’re not the only one working to promote your brand. And although writing a popular tweet is the simplest way to receive retweets and gain new followers, there are other things you can do to step up your Twitter game. Here are four simple ways to approach Twitter from a marketing perspective:
- Make your brand consistent – This goes farther than just using your brand colors, although your Twitter profile should be similar to your website and other social media profiles. You want followers to instantly recognize your brand from the tone and content as well, so make an effort to have a recognizable voice in your tweets.
- Incorporate company culture – Take the opportunity to mention your company culture, so followers don’t just see your brand as a faceless corporation. Take pictures of fun company events or outings, or tweet a company mantra. This will help your followers feel connected to your account rather than blending into their Twitter timeline.
- Follow the right people – If you aren’t following them already, check out this list of top marketers to follow on Twitter. (You might even receive a follow back!) Here’s a good list of what types of accounts to follow for your specific industry: clients, customers, business partners, suppliers, contractors, vendors, competitors or peers, trade organizations or professional organizations for your industry, businesses in your neighborhood and businesses run by people you know. This way you can stay on top of the latest news and developments in your local community and in your industry.
- Engage with followers – You’ve heard the phrase “content is king,” right? Well, engagement is queen. Especially for marketers. Interacting with your target audience is a great way to build followers as well as your online reputation. Your followers will notice if you’re regularly responding and participating in discussions. Participating in discussions will also help you stay on top of the latest market trends.
