Taking the Next Step

Attachment-1After more than six months, my time at Marketing Works is finally coming to a close.

I’ve been able to work on projects for clients in nearly every major industry, from steel to technology to medicine, honing my skills and gaining valuable experience along the way.

But more important than the skills and experience I’ve earned, my time here has given me the opportunity to learn more about myself, both personally and professionally.

I entered my internship without any real long-term goals or any idea of what I wanted to do or who I wanted to become.

Did I want to work in marketing? Or maybe public relations?

Did I want to work for an agency? Or a non-profit? Or a private corporation?

Do I want to work on projects for clients in manufacturing? In technology? In medicine?

None of these questions had a clear answer at the time. But through my internship and subsequent freelance work I was able to slowly, but surely, find the answers to these questions.

I realized that while I like public relations, I prefer marketing.

I realized that while I like working for an agency, I would prefer to work in the private sector.

I realized that while I like working for a variety of clients, I really enjoy doing work for clients in the technology industry.

Between learning more about myself and the valuable experience I earned, Marketing Works has been the perfect foundation for success. Through my time here I have found direction in my life and I have developed the skills to get where I want to go.

The next step on my journey is a Digital and Content Marketing Manager position in Birmingham, Alabama with TekLinks, an IT solutions company.

It’s been absolutely incredible working for Marketing Works. I’ve been provided with countless opportunities to build my skill set, gain experience and learn what I want out of my life, and for that I am thankful.

I would like to especially thank my coworkers for taking a chance on me; for being patient as I learned the ropes; for giving me room to grow; for allowing me to make mistakes and learn from them.

And while I am sad to go, life is journey and it’s time for me to take the next step.
