MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS INTERN

QUALIFICATIONS

The Marketing Works intern is a confident, go-getter who isn’t afraid to get their feet wet in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. He or she is a list-maker who can manage multiple projects with strong organizational skills, checking off one task at a time.

Passionate about the world of marketing and public relations, the intern is interested in gaining real-world experience from both seasoned professionals and like-minded peers.

Marketing Works lives by our four core values: We get it. We do what it takes. We do the right thing. We care. And it’s important that our intern shares these values, knows what each of these values mean and lives them out both professionally and personally.

WHY MARKETING WORKS?

The team says:
• Stable and growing business
• Strong company values
• Small family, team-oriented environment
• Flexible, relaxed environment
• Opportunities to explore your passions
• Variety of work opportunities
• Room to grow and room to fail
• Direct access to leadership
• Emphasis on professional development

THE INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE

The internship program is designed for recent college graduates. Marketing Works interns are paid hourly and are expected to work a minimum of 33 hours each week. Schedules are established after an offer is accepted.

At the start of the internship, the intern will participate in developing a personal action plan, outlining expectations, goals and objectives. This will be reviewed and updated, when necessary, at weekly 1-on-1 meetings with their supervisor.

Interns will receive two performance reviews: one at the halfway mark and a final review at the end of the term. The performance reviews cover performance in a variety of categories to help assess the intern’s performance and to ensure they’re meeting their targets. A sample performance review will be given to the intern on their first day.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Marketing Works Post-Graduate Internship is designed to provide as close to “real world” experience as possible in that it is an excellent learning opportunity to receive hands-on experience in a fast-paced agency environment. Interns will develop an understanding of, and develop skills in Business-to-Business marketing communications through social media, content development, website management, email marketing, marketing automation, lead generation, public relations and in some cases, business development.

Interns manage marketing initiatives for Marketing Works from social media management to e-newsletter development to public relations. In some instances, interns also play an active role on client account teams as well as day-to-day agency operations. Interns will participate in both internal status meetings and client meetings (when appropriate) as an integral part of the team.
